Christian Heritage Academy was born in the fall of 2004, when five high school students, together with their parents, expressed a desire to receive a Christian education that provided a higher level of academic achievement without the trappings of John Dewey’s humanistic curriculum.  With nearly thirty years of teaching experience and research behind us, we offered them classical education from a distinctly Christian perspective.

Albert Nock explains a classical education this way:

The literatures of Greece and Rome comprise the longest and fullest continuous record available to us, of what the human mind has been busy about in practically every department of spiritual and social activity…. This record covers twenty-five hundred consecutive years of the human mind’s operations in poetry, drama, law, agriculture, philosophy, architecture, natural history, philology, rhetoric, astronomy, politics, medicine, theology, geography, everything.  Hence the mind that has attentively canvassed this record is not only a disciplined mind but an experienced mind; a mind that instinctively views any contemporary phenomenon from the vantage point of an immensely long perspective attained through this profound and weighty experience of the human spirit’s operations.

It demands more effort than most young people are willing to make.

Each year since then, the Lord has blessed CHA with growth in the number of students and staff.  Today we have three teachers teaching eighteen students in grades 1, 3-4, and 7-12.  As our students go out into the world, they impact the culture around them with their maturity in thoughts and actions.  This positive, distinctly Christian, impact will undoubtedly continue to produce a demand among astute, discerning, and dedicated Christians for the type of education CHA offers for their children.
